Ripped awnings, cars damaged & more: NPD

 

NPD_webThree incidents involving property damage were reported by owners in different areas of Nutley during the past week.

Nutley PD logged the first on Sept. 5 at a Franklin Ave. location where a resident reported that someone had damaged awnings on the south side of their building. Police said it was unclear how the rips to the material had happened.

The second episode was reported Sept. 9 when a Wilson St. homeowner told police that their vehicle had been damaged – possibly by rocks – while it was parked in the driveway.

And, on Sept. 10, police said a Ravine Ave. homeowner told them a large tree limb had broken off and struck their vehicle, damaging the rear section of the roof and smashing the rear window while it was parked in the driveway.

Between Sept. 5 and 11, Nutley PD said they responded to 21 motor vehicle accidents, 50 medical calls, 22 disputes/suspicious incidents and these incidents:

Sept. 6

A Washington Ave. landlord reported that someone had removed two wireless door bells he had installed on the front and west side doors of his building. The door bells were valued at $15.

A motor vehicle stop on Franklin Ave. resulted in the arrest of Hassan Gibbs, 18, of Belleville, for having an unregistered vehicle. Police said Gibbs had a bag of grassy vegetation which later tested positive for marijuana and a glass pipe. Gibbs was then charged with possession of CDS under 50 grams and possession of drug paraphernalia and ticketed for operating an unregistered motor vehicle and CDS in a motor vehicle.

Sept. 7

Ozgun Ustan, 20, of Carlstadt, was arrested in a Park Ave. parking lot for an outstanding state warrant. After police said they found a bag of marijuana in his pocket, Usban was charged with possession of CDS. After posting bail on the warrant, he was released.

Sept. 8

A motor vehicle stop conducted on Rt. 21 led to the arrest of Kenneth Felder, 24, of Englewood, on charges of possession of marijuana less than 50 grams and two counts of possession of drug paraphernalia. He was also ticketed for driving while suspended and failure to signal while changing lanes.

Christos Eftychiadis, 38, of Nutley, was stopped while driving on Centre St. for an outstanding warrant from Totowa. He was also issued summonses for suspended registration and failure to process insurance card. After posting bail, he was released.
