Dorothy E. Smeltzer Haines
Dorothy E. Smeltzer Haines (nee Helfrich) passed away peacefully at the age of 93 in Clearwater, Fla. She also lived in Upper Greenwood Lake, N.J., and Bushkill, Pa. She was predeceased by her husbands, Louis E. Smeltzer and Ernest R. Haines; her son, Russell D. Smeltzer, and stepson, Olympus Haines.
She is survived by her daughter, Ruth Leonard and her husband, Howard; stepdaughter, Athena Fitzgerald; daughter-in-law, Sarah Haines; sisters, Alice Morr and Elizabeth Doeffinger; also survived by nine grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren.
She was a 1933 graduate of Kearny High School and was long active in Emerson School and Kearny High School P.T.A., the Upper Greenwood Lake Taxpayers Association, Jet Set, and various churches and honored by Hadassah in 1958 as Woman of the Year. She was most proud of her years devoted to the Girl Scouts. She was a troop leader, president of the Leaders Club, president of the West Hudson Girl Scout Council for eight years, chaired the building of Camp Winnetka in Frankford Township and co-chaired the building of the Girl Scout Headquarters on Kearny Avenue.
Arrangements were by the Wilfred Armitage and Wiggins Funeral Home, 596 Belgrove Dr., Kearny. A service was held in the funeral home. Interment was in Warwick Cemetery, Warwick, N.Y.

Matilda M. Seeber
Matilda M. Seeber died Sept. 4, 2009, in the Clara Maass Continuing Care Center, Kearny. She was 95.
Born in Newark, she lived in Lyndhurst and North Arlington since 1970. She was a graduate of the St. Aloysius Secretarial School.
Wife of the late Joseph, she is survived by her children, Joseph Seeber and Eleanor Johnstone and their spouses, Janet and Ronald; also survived by her grandchildren, Michael, John, Jean, MaryJo, Ronald and Joseph; great-grandchildren, Ashlee, Felicia, Justine, Stephanie, Brittany, Corey, Chelsea, Samantha, Joseph, Brianna, Lindsey, Andrew, Tyler, Jessica, and her great-great-grandchild, Carter John.
Arrangements were by the Wilfred Armitage and Wiggins Funeral Home, 596 Belgrove Dr., Kearny. A Funeral Mass was held at The Sacred Heart, Lyndhurst. Interment was in Holy Sepulcher Cemetery, Newark.
Elizabeth Ferriero Scheuerman
Elizabeth Ferriero Scheuerman, 78, of Wilkes-Barre, Pa., formerly of Harrison, passed away on Friday morning, Sept. 4, 2009, at Hospice Community Care, Geisinger South, Wilkes-Barre, Pa.
She was born Dec. 20, 1930, in Harrison, a daughter of the late Frank and Mary Sbarro Sasso. Elizabeth was a graduate of Harrison High School. She was formerly employed by the Combahr Garage Door Company in Irvington. She was a member of St. Nicholas Church in Wilkes-Barre and a former member of Holy Cross Church and its Altar & Rosary Society in Harrison.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Robert Scheuerman, and by her sisters: Phyllis (Fifi) Wiederspan and Anna Rose Grieco and by a brother: Thomas (Bobo) Sasso. Surviving are children, Louis Ferriero and his wife, Dierdra of Derry, N.H., Patricia Shults and her husband, Larry Wilton of New Smyrna Beach, Fla., and Frank Ferriero and his wife, Chris of Wilkes-Barre, with whom she resided; former spouse, Vincent Ferriero, of Harrison; grandchildren, Christopher and Caitlin Ferriero, Michael and Louis Shults; sister, Angelina Flanagan of Parlin, and nieces and nephews.
A Memorial Mass was celebrated on Friday, Sept. 11, 2009, at 3 p.m. in St. Nicholas Church, 226 S. Washington St., Wilkes-Barre. Private interment was in Shore Land Memorial Garden Cemetery, Hazlet.

Richard Gorman
Richard Gorman, 48, a lifelong resident of Kearny, died Tuesday, Sept. 1, 2009.
He worked for Delta Airlines in Newark for the past 11 years.
He is the beloved son of the late George P. and Alice (nee Lancaster) Gorman; the cherished brother of Michael and George A. Gorman; and the loving uncle of Jillian and Zachary Gorman.
A graveside service was held on Thursday, Sept. 3 in Holy Cross Cemetery, North Arlington. Arrangements were under the direction of the Parow Funeral Home, North Arlington.
Philip P. Rubolotta
Philip P. Rubolotta, 81, of Warwick Ave, a mechanic for RCA for 30 years and an employee of Fire Traffic Signal for the Town of Harrison, for 20 years before retiring, died Saturday, Sept. 12, 2009 at the Harborside Greenwood Nursing Home. He was the beloved husband of Patricia L. (Czuba) Rubolotta and a son of the late Peter and Anna (Papalardo) Rubolotta; father of Janice (Rubolotta) Bahor and Paul Rubolotta; father-in-law of Bruce Bahor; grandfather of Rachel Bahor, Brooke Rubolotta, Bryan Rubolotta and Jared Bahor. Mr. Rubolotta was a Army veteran of the Korean War.
His funeral service will be held Wednesday at 10 a.m. in the Thomas and Walter Quinn Funeral Chapel, 2435 Warwick Ave., Warwick, RI. Bryan Donnelly, 53, of Kearny, formerly of Carlstadt, died on Sept. 9, 2009, surrounded by his loving family.
A Mass of Christian Burial was officiated on Monday at 9 a.m. at St. Cecilia’s Church, Kearny. Arrangements were by the Wilfred Armitage & Wiggins Funeral Home, 596 Belgrove Dr., Kearny. Interment was in Holy Cross Cemetery.
Predeceased by his father, William Taylor Donnelly; his brother, Billy Donnelly and his father-in-law, John Ross, he is survived by his wife, Kathy Ross Donnelly; his parents, Lauretta and Donald Molzon; his daughters, Rachel and Meghan Donnelly; sisters, Donna Lee Cappuzzo (Ross), Kolleen Donnelly, Donna Marie Sanders (Gene) and his brother, Steven Molzon (Lori). He was the son-in-law of Margaret Ross and brother-in-law of Maryann and Kevin Critchley, Pat and Gene McCarthy and Jack and Dottie Ross. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
Born in Hackensack, Mr. Donnelly lived in Carlstadt before moving to Kearny 18 ago. He worked as a machinist for many years and was both an avid fisherman and pool player.

Genevieve “Jean” Zitzow (nee Kotlowski) 95 years, entered into eternal rest on Wednesday Sept. 9, 2009, at Clara Maass Continuing Care Center, Kearny.
Born in Harrison, she was a life long resident. She was a parishioner of Our Lady Of Czestochowa Church. She was dedicated to her family.
Predeceased by her husband, August (1993), Genevieve was the loving mother of Richard E. Zitzow and his wife Carolina and Diane Pace and her husband Benny, Jr. dear sister of Bernice Mackoff and cherished aunt to Stephen Mackoff. Genevieve is also survived by 6 grandchildren, 13 great-grandchildren and 4 great-great-grandchildren.
The funeral was conducted from the Mulligan Funeral Home, 331 Cleveland Ave., Harrison. A Funeral Mass was held Monday at Our Lady Of Czestochowa Church, Harrison.

Born in Harrison, she lived most of her life in Kearny. She was a parishioner of Holy Cross Church and Saint Cecilia’s Church, Kearny. Mae was a homemaker. She greatly enjoyed reading.
Predeceased by her Husband, John S. Wagner (1980), Mae was the devoted mother of Alice McGroarty, Maureen Frost and Mary Kline, a loving grandmother of 4, and dear sister of William Bopp. She was an aunt to many nieces and nephews and is also survived by her three son in laws. She was predeceased by 6 of her siblings.
