Upcoming programs at NJMC

On Thursday, June 9, at 7 p.m., a free concert for seniors will be held at the Meadowlands Environment Center, 2 DeKorte Park Plaza, Lyndhurst. “The Banjo and All That Jazz” features the Cynthia Sayer Trio. Seating is limited, and registration is required

“Fashion Recycled” is the theme of a free senior program Tuesday, June 14, at 2 p.m. at the MEC. Brenda Greenfield of Studio Be makes men’s and women’s fashions out of absolutely everything: candy, fruit, screen windows, plastic bags – you name it!  She focuses on reusing and recycling found treasures and will teach you how to create art out of found objects.

Seating limited; registration required. (See instructions above.)

A free two-hour plant walk in DeKorte Park is set for Sunday, June 12, starting at 10 a.m. Botanist Edith Wallace will be looking for the plants that attract birds and butterflies and discuss which ones would work in your home gardens. The walk is run by the N.J. Meadowlands Commission and the Bergen County Audubon Society. Check meadowblog.net for last-minute updates and weather advisories.
