Belleville Public Library is accepting donations for a book sale at the Just a Party township event on Thursday, Sep. 15. Bring your gently used adult, teen and children’s books to the library. All sales will benefit the Friends of the Library.

The library has added the Intrepid Sea, Air and Space Museum at Pier 86 in New York City to its museum membership collection. Library members may make reservations for free passes at the circulation desk. Tickets are also available for the American Museum of Natural History at a cost of $7 per person. Take advantage of the biggest bargain in town and join the Friends of the Belleville Public Library and Information Center. The NJMC’s Hackensack River pontoon boat cruises will be offered Wednesday, Aug. 10, and Friday, Aug. 12, both departing at 5:30 p.m.

The NJMC and Bergen County Audubon Society will hold a free two-hour guided nature walk at the legendary Harrier Meadow in North Arlington on Tuesday, Aug. 16. The 70-acre site, usually off limits to the public, features ponds and tidal impoundments and birds aplenty. Meet at 10 a.m. at the entrance to Harrier Meadow on Disposal Road. American Legion Post 139, Lyndhurst, will sponsor a Veterans Ward party on Aug. 23 at Chestnut Hill Extended Care facility, Passaic, starting at 2:30 p.m. The event will include games of chance, and refreshments will be served by the Post 139 Rehabilitation Committee. On Friday, Aug. 12, at 2 p.m., Nutley Public Library will host a Summer Reading Wrap-up featuring ice cream and face-painting. Children must complete the summer reading program to receive a ticket to attend.
The library’s Pen to Prose Writers’ Group will meet on Monday, Aug. 15, from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. The group was formed to read works-in-progress, share accomplishments, critique works, give writing instruction, and provide encouragement and inspiration to aspiring authors. The group is free and open to the public.

Come share your love of knitting and crocheting with others at two new knitting clubs at the library. These clubs will meet on the first Tuesday evening of each month at 7 p.m. and every Wednesday afternoon from 1 to 3 p.m. All levels of experience and ability are welcome and beginners will be guided by more experienced knitters. Meet fellow knitters, brush up on your skills, and learn some new techniques. Bring a current knitting project, or start a new one, and please bring your own supplies.
