KEARNY –
Warm weather and a beautiful sunset kissed the skin of the hundreds in attendance at this town’s annual Night Out Against Crime program, held Aug. 2 on Belgrove Drive between Afton St. and Bergen Ave.
The international event, currently in its 28th year, aims to heighten crime awareness and drug prevention as well as to strengthen neighborhood spirit and grow relationships between law enforcement officials and the communities they serve. Night Out Against Crime is celebrated by more than 15,000 communities in the United States and on American military bases throughout the world.
“Our group has had this a couple years in a row now,” Firefighter Kenny Bulger said, standing next to one of the town’s ladder trucks. “The importance is being in the eye of the public and letting kids see our equipment and see the faces of the people who are behind the equipment.”
