LYNDHURST –
Given the cumbersome pace of travel, impatient South Bergen motorists may liken their journey from here to Nutley over the DeJessa Bridge to covered-wagon crossings. But now, relief is in sight . . . more or less.
At its Aug. 9 meeting, the Lyndhurst Township Commission adopted an ordinance authorizing the purchase of easements designed to facilitate the reconstruction of the Riverside Ave. intersection at Kingsland Ave., the bridge site.
In turn, getting access to these properties should clear the way for the county to proceed with a long-awaited reconfiguration of that snarled intersection and for upgraded traffic signals … on the Lyndhurst side, at least.
