Samuel J. Del Guercio
Samuel J. Del Guercio, 51, of East Newark, passed away on Thursday, Aug. 11.
Arrangements were by the Mulligan Funeral Home, 331 Cleveland Ave., Harrison. A funeral Mass was held at Our Lady of Czestochowa Church, Harrison. His cremains will be interred in the family plot at a later date.

Sam recently worked as a machinist for Cam Tool in Kearny for six years. Prior, he was a machinist for Arlington Induction Co. in East Newark for 20 years.
Loving son of Helen (nee Pienciak) and the late Samuel Del Guercio, he was the dear brother of his beloved sisters Tricia (Patricia) Fox and her husband Patrick and Sally Ann Craig and her husband Robert and his late brother Walter; dear nephew to Patsy Del Guercio; dear uncle to Samantha, Gregory, Suzanne, Nicole, Robert, Elianna, Luis and Anthony.
Josephine C. Loisage, 104

Josephine C. (Ala) Loisage, 104, of Kearny, died on Aug. 9.
A funeral service was held at the Allwood Funeral Home, 660 Allwood Road, Clifton, followed by interment at Holy Cross Cemetery.
Born in Harrison, Josephine was a lifelong resident of Kearny until moving to a nursing facility in Passaic at age 100. She was employed by the Prudential Life Insurance Co. in Newark as a claims processor. Josephine was a parishioner of St. Stephen’s Church in Kearny. She stayed active as a member of the Henrietta Benstead, St. Stephen’s and St. Cecelia’s Senior Citizens Clubs, all located in Kearny.
Josephine is predeceased by her husband Benjamin Loisage and two sisters Lillian Ala Rohn and Catherine Ala and by two brothers Jack and Harry Ala. She is survived by her sister Linda Ala Hoholik and niece Linda Jo Hoholik, both of Clifton, and a nephew George Ala of Macungie, Pa.
Betty Jean MacConchie
Betty Jean MacConchie, 82, died on July 27 at Waterview Nursing Home in Cedar Grove.
Arrangements were by the Wilfred Armitage and Wiggins Funeral Home, 596 Belgrove Drive, Kearny.
Born in Newark, she lived in West Orange before moving to Kearny in 1960. She worked as a secretary for Motor Club of America in Newark and then at Wallace and Tiernan, Belleville, in the same capacity, leaving the work force to raise her children. After raising her sons, Mrs. MacConchie returned to Motor Club of America, North Arlington. She was a former Sunday School teacher and member of First Presbyterian Church, Kearny.
She is the beloved wife of the late Harold MacConchie and mother of Bruce (Jeannie), Wayne (Wendy), Scott (Marlene), and Keith MacConchie. She was the grandmother of Allyson, Erin, Connor, Kimberly, Kyle, and Raymond, and also a great-grandmother of Nathan Gilmore.

Mary A. Maglio
Mary A. Maglio died on Aug. 10 at home. She was 94. Born in Brooklyn, N.Y., she was a lifelong resident of Kearny.
Predeceased by her husband Samuel, she was the mother of Diane M. Maglio and the late Bonnie Maglio; sister-in-law of Millie Petito; also surviving are many nieces and nephews and good friends.
Arrangements were by the Wilfred Armitage and Wiggins Funeral Home, 596 Belgrove Drive, Kearny. A funeral Mass was held at St. Stephen’s Church in Kearny. Interment was in Holy Cross Cemetery.

Virginia T. Sharples
Virginia T. Sharples (nee Zito) died on Aug. 9 in the Inglemoore Rehab Center in Livingston. She was 91.
Born in The Bronx, she lived in Kearny and Toms River before moving to Georgia two years ago.
Wife of the late Thomas Sharples Sr., she is survived by their children Thomas and Jack Wright, Jane McAllister, Thomas (Tim) Sharples Jr., Joseph Sharples, Laura Quegan, Susan Sharples Zito, Ann Binder and Irene Reed; also surviving are 21 grandchildren, 22 great-grandchildren and five great-great-grandchildren.

Connie Mulvanerton
Connie Mulvanerton (nee Brown) died on Aug. 10 in Hackensack Medical Center in Belleville. She was 61.
Born in Jersey City, she was a lifelong Kearny resident. She was a crossing guard for the Town of Kearny.
Wife of Edward Mulvanerton, she is the sister of Edith O’Malley (Marty), Frank Brown (Barbara) and the late Georgina Hague. She is also survived by her brother-in-law Allen Hague along with many nieces and nephews.
Arrangements were by the Wilfred Armitage and Wiggins Funeral Home, 596 Belgrove Drive, Kearny. A funeral Mass was held in St. Stephen’s Church. Entombment was in Holy Cross Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Tomorrows Children’s Fund c/o the funeral home.
Catherine Sweeney
Catherine Sweeney (Vesey), 95, passed away on Aug. 4 in the Belgrove Post Acute Care Center, Kearny.

Cathy was born in Glasgow, Scotland, then immigrated to the U.S. in 1953 and lived in Newark. She moved to Kearny in 1954.
She was an administrative assistant in the passport office at the British Consulate in New York City for 25 years. She retired 30 years ago.
Cathy was a member of the St. Cecilia Rosary Altar Society, Senior Citizens Club Inc., and the Xaverian Ladies Guild, all of Kearny.
She is survived by several loving nieces and nephews. Catherine was predeceased by her husband Christopher and her siblings Ellen Maguire, Nan Ashforth and Andrew Vesey.
