Belleville
Belleville Elks Lodge #1123 will hold its quarterly blood drive on Saturday, Oct. 6, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the lodge hall, 254 Washington Avenue. The blood drive is run by the New Jersey Blood Center, along with the Belleville Elks Lodge. The blood center continues to send 10 percent of all blood donations overseas to support the armed forces. All donors will receive a $10 gift card from Shop Rite.
Donors must be at least 17-years-old, be in good health and weigh at least 120 lbs. All donors are required to eat a light meal before coming to donate blood, donors are also required to have a signed form of identification and also know their social security number.

Bloomfield
The Bloomfield Public Library Board of Trustees has passed two new policies. The first policy states that if a library card holder has a blocked library card any other library card holders at the same address will also be blocked.
The second policy pertains to obtaining a courtesy card. If a person works in the Township of Bloomfield they need to show along with a picture ID either a most recent pay stub or a letter on letterhead from their employer. If the person is a nanny or a babysitter for a Bloomfield resident a picture ID with a letter from the employer is required. If a person owns property in Bloomfield but does not live here a person will need a picture ID and a tax or utility bill.

Kearny Public Library will be having a book sale on Saturday, Oct. 13, to participate in the 3rd Annual Town-Wide Yard Sale. Come check out the library’s huge selection of donated and discarded hardcover books, paperback books and audiobooks. In an effort to move out as many as they can, they will be selling the books for 25 cents each or $1 a bag!

Join Clara Maass Medical Center (CMMC) for a Women’s Health Clinic at the Lyndhurst Health Department, 601 Riverside Ave., in Lyndhurst, on Thursday, Oct. 11, at 9 a.m. CMMC will also offer Pap screenings, limited to Lyndhurst residents only.
Pap screenings are important in the prevention and early detection of cervical cancer. They look for abnormalities that may indicate changes in the cells of the cervix. A woman should start getting regular Pap tests by the age of 21.
