Nutley Department of Parks and Recreation will offer a variety of weekly sporting programs for students with special needs, along with their siblings and non-disabled peers.
Fun for All is an adaptive recreation program offering a variety of seasonal sports and social activities on a weekly basis throughout the school year.
Good sportsmanship and accepting individual differences and abilities is fostered throughout the sessions. Modifications are made as needed to enable all participants to play and enjoy the experience.
Fun for All is enhanced with the eager participation of volunteer peer buddies, high school students learning to be effective facilitators and role models who are actively involved in all aspects of the program.
Fun for All will be held in the Radcliffe School gymnasium, beginning Wednesday, Oct.10, kicking the season off with five consecutive weeks of SoccerFUN. The program will run weekly throughout the school year with the exception of school closings and special Board of Education functions.
Other sports include BasketballFUN, VolleyballFUN, HockeyFUN, BadmintonFUN, KickballFUN and WiffleballFUN. Session I for ages five through 11, will run from 6:30-7:30 p.m. and Session II for ages 12-21 will follow from 7:30-8:30 p.m. Program fee is $50 for the first family member and $25 for each additional.
