A 50-year-old Lyndhurst man walked into township Police headquarters at 3:37 a.m. and told police he’d been the victim of an attack by a stranger.
The man told police he was walking on Page Avenue near Lewandowski Street when a car pulled up alongside him and a man jumped out and demanded money, then stabbed him in the left thigh. His assailant then took an unknown amount of cash from his pocket and fled in a dark-colored Chevrolet, the victim told police.
The alleged attacker was described by the victim as a short, black man, of medium build, between 20 and 30, wearing a dark cloth material over his face.
The victim was treated at an area hospital for a puncture wound to his thigh and released. The incident remains under investigation, police said.

Shortly before 2:30 a.m. police were called to 10th Street and Park Place on a report of someone causing car alarms to be sounding. Police said they found Thomas Grimmeyer, 19, of Lyndhurst, hanging out in the area and they said Grimmeyer appeared to be under the influence of alcohol. Grimmeyer was issued a summons charging him with under-age consumption of alcohol.

At 2:22 a.m. police went to the Ridge Exxon service station off Kingsland Avenue where a driver from a North Bergen cab company told officers that he’d just been stiffed for a $20 fare.
The cabbie told police he’d transported two passengers from Secaucus to Lyndhurst and, upon arrival at their destination, the pair jumped out without paying.
At 12:39 p.m., police were alerted to the theft of a motor vehicle. Police said the Lyndhurst owner of a 2004 Kawasaki motorcycle valued at $5,000 told them that someone had swiped the bike from a garage at an apartment complex at 1301 Wall St. West.
