BELLEVILLE

Belleville Middle School 7th and 8th grade chorus concert is on Wednesday, Dec. 5, at 7 p.m. in the BMS Auditorium, 279 Washington Ave. Songs to be performed include “Where are you Christmas?” from the movie “The Grinch” and “Holly, Jolly Christmas.” The band and orchestra concert is on Tuesday, Dec. 18, at 7 p.m. in the BMS Auditorium. Selections to be played are “Jingle Bells” and “Ode to Joy.” Admission to both concerts is free.

The Belleville Elks Lodge #1123 will hold its monthly breakfast Sunday, Dec. 16 at 254 Washington Ave., Belleville. Admission is $6 for adults and $3 for children under age 10. For December, there will be a visit from Santa Claus – remember to bring along your cameras so you may take your keepsake photos. All money raised will be for the benefit of the Belleville Elks Charity Fund.

A roast beef dinner will be held at the Belleville Elks Hall, 254 Washington Ave., on Friday, Dec. 14, from 5:30 to 8:30 p.m. For more information, call 973-759-9623. Admission is $12 for adults and $10 for seniors.

BLOOMFIELD

On Sunday, Dec., 9, the Looking Glass Children’s Center Brookdale Reformed Church and House of Fire Christian Church, all based at 10 Bellville Ave., Bloomfield, welcome in the Christmas season with a full day of activities beginning with a joint worship service at 10:30 a.m. culminating in a Nativity pageant complete with live animals. Festivities will continue throughout the afternoon with a Christmas party and open house from 1 to 4 p.m. There will be cookies, candy, games and gifts for the children and hot coffee and sandwiches for the adults. Oakeside Bloomfield Cultural Center is offering a dinner and theatre trip package to see the new Broadway hit that’s perfect for the whole family, “Matilda,” based on Roald Dahl’s book on Sunday, May 5, 2013. Participants will enjoy a buffet brunch at the Oakeside Mansion starting at 11:30 a.m., before boarding a bus to New York City, directly to the theatre.

The cost of the trip is $142 per person and includes brunch; round-trip bus transportation; front mezzanine seats; and all taxes and tips.

HARRISON

Harrison Public Library will host a visit from Santa on Saturday, Dec. 8, from 10:30 a.m. to noon. All of the children will be able to give their last minute lists and make sure their names are on his “Good List!” Bring your cameras – Santa loves getting his picture taken.

KEARNY

Kearny UNICO will be holding its next monthly membership meeting on Thursday, Dec. 13, at 7:30 p.m. Anyone interested in attending the meeting and/or learning more about Kearny UNICO should contact Chapter President Lou Pandolfi at 201-368-2409. New members are welcome.

LYNDHURST

The Lyndhurst Board of Education Meeting scheduled for Monday, Dec. 3, 2012, has been canceled and rescheduled for Monday, Dec. 17, work session at 7 p.m., public meeting at 8 p.m., Lyndhurst High School auditorium.

The next meeting of the Lyndhurst Public Library book club will be held on Wednesday, Dec. 12, at 6 p.m. “The Christmas Train” by David Baldacci will be discussed. Santa Claus will be coming to the Humane Society Sunday, Dec. 9, from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Their professional photographer will be taking pictures of both children and or pets with Santa Claus.at that time. The Meadowlands Environment Center, Two DeKorte Park Plaza, Lyndhurst, will host “Rockin’ in the Ocean” on Sunday, Dec. 9, from 2 to 4 p.m., a program on rock, swing and doo-wop songs about our oceans’ inhabitants. NUTLEY

Registration for the 2013 Nutley Recreation Lacrosse Program will be held at the Department of Parks and Recreation, 44 Park Ave., on Tuesday, Dec. 11, at 7 p.m. This program is open to Nutley residents in grades 3 through 8.

Youngsters interested in participating must provide their own certified helmet, stick and mouth guard. A fee of $100 per person will be payable at the time of registration or online at www.NutleyNj.org. This fee includes a practice jersey and $40 refundable equipment deposit.
