A Newark man was killed after being struck by a vehicle while crossing Franklin Ave. in Nutley on Dec. 21, the Essex County Prosecutor’s Office reported.
ECPO spokeswoman Katherine Carter said John Waltenberg, 48, was walking across Franklin Ave., between Warren and Adams sts., shortly after 8 p.m. when he was hit by an SUV.
Waltenberg was pronounced dead on the scene at 8:28 p.m., Carter said. No charges have been brought against the driver of the SUV pending final review of the accident by the prosecutor’s office investigators, Carter said.
