On Saturday April 13, the Harrison Lions Club will be holding its annual Pride of the Pride fundraising awards dinner at 7 p.m. at the Harrison East Newark Elks, 416 Harrison Ave. Ticket prices are $35 for adults and $25 for children under 12, which includes a buffet dinner, beer, wine, soda, and dessert.
During this event, the Lions will honor the following individuals for their contributions to the community: Lion of the Year: Patti Gerris, Humanitarian of the Year: Jimmy Lawless, Citizen of the Year: Georgina Paz, Young Adult of the Year: Susan Lombardi and Community Pride Award: Philip and Susan Karas.

The New Jersey Meadowlands Commission published “The Nature of the Meadowlands” last fall. Through more than 170 images, it illuminates the region’s natural and unnatural history.

St. Stephen’s Seniors will meet on Tuesday, April 16 at 1 p.m. in the church’s Hedges Hall. There will be a board meeting at 10:30 a.m. Refreshments are served from 11 a.m. to 12:45 p.m. Bingo will be played after the meeting.
Anyone over the age of 50 is welcome to join the group on the first and third Tuesday of each month. Dues for the year are only $10.

Park historian Vincent Gargiulo will take discussion attendees on a trip down memory lane as he recalls the history of this beloved amusement park. The presentation begins at 7 p.m. at the American Legion Post 139 on the corner of Webster and Park Avenues in Lyndhurst. The lecture is free and open to the public.
On Sunday, April 14, at 1 p.m. Birding for Beginners (Optics), a free two-hour Birding for Beginners class starts with a short session on birding optics – from binoculars to spotting scopes -at the Meadowlands Environment Center in DeKorte Park in Lyndhurst, followed by a nature walk in the park. The event is run by the Bergen County Audubon Society and hosted by the New Jersey Meadowlands Commission. Nutley
Nutley Little Theatre will offer a series of April-June acting classes for adults to emphasize various aspects of scene study. The classes will take place at the NLT Barn, 47 Erie Place, Nutley, beginning Apr. 28.
The course will run for eight weeks, through June 23, with sessions running from 7:30 p.m. to 9:30 p.m. on Sundays. There will be no class on May 26.
The course will be taught by Kathryn Osborne of the Kathryn Osborne Acting Studio in Montclair. Osborne is a graduate of The University of Texas (BFA) and a member of SAG, AFTRA, and AEA. She has performed in New York and regionally throughout the country in theatre, film, television, voice-overs, and print. Osborne teaches acting at The Adult School of Montclair.
Students in the NLT program must be age 18 or older, attend all classes or notify the instructor of a planned absence. Tuition of $200 may be paid via check to” Nutley Little Theatre” no later than the initial April 28 class. Pen to Prose Writers’ Group will meet at Nutley Public Library, 93 Booth Dr., on Monday, April 15, at 6:30 p.m. The group was formed to read works-in-progress, share accomplishments, critique works, give writing instruction, and provide encouragement and inspiration to aspiring authors. Registration is now open for Nutley Department of Parks and Recreation’s summer session of Junior Kickers Soccer, open to Nutley toddlers ages 3 to 5. The professional coaching staff from The Sports Factory will direct the program.
Junior Kickers Soccer is a non-competitive program designed to help the youngest of soccer players begin to develop basic soccer skills by participating in fun-filled, soccer oriented children’s games and basic physical education. The program will begin on June 25 at Glotzbach Field. Tuesday sessions will run for four weeks from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m. with one rain date. Each class is one hour in length.
Registration forms may be turned into the Recreation Department, 44 Park Ave, no later than June 3. Limited space available. Applications will be accepted on a first come, first served basis. The fee for this program will be $30 per child. Online registration is also available online at www.nutleynj.org.
