Anthony Abridello
Anthony Abridello, 72, entered into eternal rest on Saturday, June 8, in Hollywood, Fla.
Born in Newark, he was a former resident of Harrison and Kearny before moving to Florida. He was an avid horse racing fan.
He was a devoted father of Mary Lisa Coro, Anthony, Tiffany and the late Nicole Abridello, He is also survived by his six cherished grandchildren, and was the beloved brother of Geraldine Jusinski and Edward Hurd and an uncle to many nieces and nephews.

Lonnie Blevins
Lonnie Blevins 75, passed away peacefully on Friday. June 14, at Clara Maass Medical Center, Belleville, with his family at his side.
The funeral will be from the Thiele-Reid Family Funeral Home, 585 Belgrove Dr., Kearny, on Wednesday, June 19, at 10 a.m. A funeral Mass will be offered at St. Cecilia Church, Kearny at 11 a.m. Interment will follow at Holy Cross Cemetery, North Arlington. Born in Princeton, Ind., he had lived in Kearny for the past 55 years. He served in the U.S. Navy aboard the USS Lake Champlain. While on leave in 1958, he had been staying with a shipmate who lived in Kearny where he would meet his wife Nancy Finelli. While standing behind her in line at a local bakery, he turned to his friend and said, “I’m going to marry that girl someday.” They were married for 51 years.
Lonnie joined the Kearny Police Department in 1966. He received numerous commendations including one in 1967, when he saved the life of a 5-month-old baby girl by mouth to mouth resuscitation who had drowned in a bath tub. He was a motorcycle patrolman, the first commander of the vice squad, and a tour captain. In 1977, he was the Knights of Columbus Kearny Council # 402’s first Policeman of the Year. He earned his B.S. in Criminal Justice with honors from Jersey City State College in 1982. Mr. Blevins retired from the Kearny Police Department as head of Internal Affairs in 1996.
Lonnie was a member of V.F.W. Post 1302 in Kearny.
He enjoyed spending his summers at his house on the Jersey Shore boating with his family and watching the Western Channel.
He is survived by his wife Nancy F. (Finelli); sons William (Sharyne), Steven (Reneé) and John (Lorraine), his beloved eight grandchildren Billy, Gregg, Blair, Zachary, Christopher, Brendan, Sean and Brooke.
Lonnie also leaves behind his brothers Kent, Tennis, Colin (Judy), Eddie, Owen; his sister Ellen; step-mother Merle and his beloved Aunt June.
Antoinette DeRosa
Antoinette DeRosa, 90, of Dunellen, died on June 9, at St. Peter’s Medical Center, New Brunswick.
She was born in Calabria, Italy, and lived there before moving to Harrison where she lived for 75 years.
She also had lived in Vernon Township, then moved to Dunellen, where she resided with her daughter.
Her husband Guido died in 1997. She was predeceased by her parents Rocco and Carmela Mandaglio, and her brothers, Fred, Michael and Dominick.
She worked as a seamstress and bookbinder. Antoinette was very devoted to her family and enjoyed taking care of them. She also was very good at needlework and was an avid reader of western novels. She was a former member of the Vernon Senior Citizens and a communicant of Our Lady of Fatima Church, Piscataway.
DeRosa is survived by her daughter Maryanne Hughes of Dunellen, three sons, Richard of Fairlawn, Ohio, Michael and his wife Elizabeth, of Vernon Township, John and his wife Kathleen of Leesburg, Fla., a brother Pasquale Mandaglio and his wife Phyllis of Freehold, 10 grandchildren Andrea, Juliet, Richard, Rachael, Brianna, Angelina, Genevieve, Gianna, Joshua, Jason and several nieces and nephews.
Arrangements were by the Sheenan Funeral Home, 233 Dunellen Ave., Dunellen, followed by a Mass of Christian burial at Our Lady of Fatima Church and interment was at Holy Cross Cemetery, North Arlington.
Agnes B. Dunlop
Agnes B. Dunlop died on June 12 in Newton Memorial Hospital. She was 86.
Born in Kearny she moved to Andover Twp. 40 years ago.

Agnes was a data processor at Bambergers in Newark and was a member of the Bonnie Doone Lodge Order of Eastern Star.
Wife of the late William McGivern Dunlop, she is survived by her children and their spouses Patricia and Ronald Galante and Alexander and Lisa Dunlop. Also surviving are her grandchildren Blair (and Forest) Turner and Taylor Dunlop and her great-grandchildren Peyton and Anslee Turner.
Wanda Gomez
Wanda Gomez, (Quinones), 62, of Harrison, entered into eternal rest peacefully surrounded by her loving family on Tuesday, June 11.
Born in Manhattan, N.Y., she grew up in Greenwich Village. After marrying her husband Leonel, they moved to Harrison. She was an accounts payable manager for Swatch Corporation, Weehawken, retiring in 2001. Prior to that she worked for Hartz Mountain, Harrison. She was a devout Catholic and a very charitable person donating often to many charities. She was a lover of both music and movies.
She is survived by her beloved husband, Leonel Gomez and her loving daughters Maribel Tita and Erika Pank. She was the cherished grandmother to Erik, Andrew, Nina, Natalie and Isabella; dear sister to Obed, Edgar and Edwin Quinones, Michael and William Morales, Mrs. Olvido Perlmutter and Mrs. Eva Fernandez. She was an aunt to many nieces and nephews and a niece to many aunts and uncles.
The funeral was conducted from the Mulligan Funeral Home, 331 Cleveland Ave., Harrison on June 14. A Mass of Christian burial was celebrated at Holy Cross Church, Harrison. Her interment took place in Holy Cross Cemetery, North Arlington.

William J. ‘Hamie’ Hamilton

Born in Orange, he lived most of his life in Newark before moving to Kearny in 2006. He worked for Don Thurston Painting Corporation for many years before retiring in 2005. Prior to that he worked as a shop steward for General Motors Inc., Linden, for many years. He was a former member of the Harrison and East Newark Elks. William served his country in the United States Air Force.
In his free time he enjoyed fishing, country music, puzzles and game shows.
Survived by his beloved wife Susan (nee: Halleran), he was the loving father of Tara and James Hamilton, Susan Helber and her husband Dan, Capt. Kerry Dos Santos and Det. Paul Hamilton and the late Michael Hamilton, dear brother to Blanche Eidel, and Audrey Cummings; also survived by his cherished grandchildren Amber, Alyssa, Ciara, Hailey, PJ, Patrick, Nickolas and Arianna.
He was predeceased by his first wife Judith (nee: Hudson) Hamilton, and his sister Beverly Kumitis.

Charles S. Hill
Charles S. Hill, 84, died on June 10 in the Clara Maass Medical Center, Belleville.

Mr. Hill was born in East Newark and was raised in Kearny. He lived in Belleville for 40 years before moving back to Kearny 18 years ago.
Charles was a licensed electrical contractor. He owned and operated Hill Electric, Inc. since 1962. He was a member of the International Association of Electrical Inspectors and a member of Fewsmith Memorial Presbyterian Church in Belleville.
Mr. Hill is survived by his children Margy Hill, Bette Day Stern (Paul); Charles S. Hill, II (Patricia) and David W. Hill (Jan); grandchildren Jessica Ibanez, Ben Stern, Mandy Stern-Pirlot, Becky Stern, Leanna, Colleen, Melanie and Christopher Hill and D.J., Jordon and Tyler Hill; great-grandchildren Billy Stern and Lilly Stern-Pirlot. He also leaves behind his former wife Alberta (Newton).
He was predeceased by his parents William and Cora (Warrick) Hill and his sisters Peggy Swartz and Jean Noble.
Jean C. Syme
Jean C. Syme (nee Bowie) died June 9, in The Maywood Health Care Center. She was 96.

Jean was born in Scotland and lived most of her life in Kearny, before moving to Maywood. She was predeceased by her husband George in 1988, her daughter Elizabeth Mumm in 2001 and her son-inlaw Jack Mumm in 1986.
Beloved mother of Hugh Syme (Susan) of Saddle Brook and George Syme (Michele) of Nutley, loving grandmother of Douglas Syme (Joley), Christine Pecoraro (Larry), Heather Drexler (Paul), Bethany Mikolajczyk (James), Richard Mumm and Elizabeth Jean Mumm; cherished great-grandmother of Isabella Mumm, James and Nicholas Pecoraro, Emily and Katherine Drexler, Mackenzie Syme and Quincy Mikolajczyk; also survived by her brother Hugh Bowie (Ruth) of Florida.
Jean was active for over 60 years at the Knox Presbyterian Church in Kearny and was a member of the Benstead Senior Center.
