Leo R. Fitzsimmons
Leo R. Fitzsimmons died at home on July 12. He was 52.
Born in Newark, he lived in Kearny and Colonia before moving to Lawrence Harbor about 10 years ago.

Leo had been an electrician for N.J. Transit.
He is survived by his mother Evelyn (nee Carlin), his son Leo Ryan Fitzsimmons and his sister Mary Jane DaSilva, Bernedette Marques, Kathy Murphy and Terry Fitzsimmons. He was predeceased by his father Leo and his sister Evelyn.
Cora Frank
Cora Frank (nee McDonald) died July 15 in the Alaris Health Care Center in Kearny. She was 70.
Arrangements were by the Armitage and Wiggins Funeral Home, 596 Belgrove Dr., Kearny.
Cora had worked for Fuji Films as a film developer.
She is survived by her sons Nicholas (and Kelly O’Neill) Frank and Natale Frank Jr. Also surviving are her two grandchildren Lyndsey Marie and Nicholas Jr.
Babette Gillen
Babette Gillen, (nee Hering), 85, of Lyndhurst, entered into eternal rest suddenly on Saturday, July 20, at her home. Born and raised in Nuremberg, Germany, Babette moved to the United States in 1952 and spent most of her life in Harrison before moving to Lyndhurst in 2001.
Predeceased by her husband, John P. Gillen (2000), Babette is survived by her sons, Robert J. and William Gillen, and five grandchildren, William, Michael, Danielle, Brian and Adam.

Charles ‘Charlie’ J. Huhn
Charles Huhn, 44, passed away at his home on July 11. He is survived by his sister Darlene Huhn. As per his last wishes, there was a private cremation by Thiele-Reid Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, make a donation in his name to St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital.
Thomas J. Silkie
Thomas J. Silkie passed away on July 15 at the Care One at Morris. He was 88.
Born in Harrison, he lived in Manasquan before moving to Montville two years ago.

Mr. Silkie served in the Marine Corps during World War II. He was a retired expeditor, having worked at Otis Elevator.
Husband of the late Dorothy (nee Cromie), he is survived by his children Caryn Silkie, Dorothy Hemenway, Linda Silkie and Thomas Silkie. Also surviving are seven grandchildren, 12 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild. He was predeceased by his daughter Pamela Rothenburger and her husband Harold.
Maria T. Suarez
Maria T. Suarez (nee Ruiz), 87, of East Newark, entered into eternal rest on Saturday, July 20, at home surrounded by her loving family. Born and raised in Cienfuegos, Cuba, Maria spent most of her life there before moving to East Newark 33 years ago.
Maria is survived by her beloved husband, Silvino Suarez, her loving children, Maria C. Garrido and Isabel A. Campos, six grandchildren, 17 great-grandchildren and three great-great-grandchildren. She also leaves behind many nieces, nephews and cousins.
The funeral will be conducted from the Mulligan Funeral Home, 331 Cleveland Ave, Harrison, on Wednesday, July 24, at 9:30 a.m. Friends may call Tuesday, July 23, from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. and Wednesday after 9 a.m. at the funeral home. Thomas M. Woods, 61, entered into eternal rest on Monday, July 15, at home in Brick.
A funeral service was held at the Mulligan Funeral Home, 331 Cleveland Ave., Harrison, on Friday, July 19. His cremation was private.

Born in Newark, Thomas lived and was raised in Harrison before moving to Point Pleasant in 1997. He was the former owner of Dorsey Roofing, Harrison, for many years. Thomas served his country in the U.S. Army Reserves during peacetime. He was a member of the Bay Head Shores Property Owners Association, Point Pleasant Elks BPOE #1698, Pt. Pleasant Moose Lodge #731 and the American Legion Brick Memorial Post # 348, Brick. In his spare time, Tom was an avid fisherman.
Predeceased by his parents Thomas and Mary (nee Butler) Woods, he is survived by his sister Mary E. Glancey and her husband Ted, his daughter Allison Woods, nieces and nephews, Christopher Glancey and his wife Danielle, Danielle Doyle and her husband David, Nicole Chevere and her husband Jay. He was great uncle to Christopher, Raegan, Joseph, Alyssa, Gianna, Mahlia, Rhyan, Antonio and Joseph.
