In honor of Older Americans Month and National Senior Health and Fitness Day, Job Haines, 250 Bloomfield Ave., Bloomfield, is offering two health-based programs:
Project Healthy Bones is an exercise and educational program for people with or at risk for osteoporosis. Debora Catanio, a peer leader, will instruct the class with exercises to improve strength, balance and flexibility. There will be seated, standing and moving exercises, with a chair or wall used for safety.
Additionally, Job Haines is sponsoring a program with Clara Maass Medical Center, “Hear This: The Impact of Hearing Loss on Dementia.” Dr. Derrick Wallace will explore how hearing loss may be associated with cognition, dementia functional decline and social isolation.
These two programs will be held on Wednesday, May 27, at two different times: Project Healthy Bones from 10:30 to 11:30 a.m. and Dr. Derrick Wallace from 5 to 6:30 p.m.
To R.S.V.P., call Donna Plotnick, 973-743-0792, ext. 133 (by Tuesday, May 26). These programs are free and refreshments will be served.
