NJDOT officials announced Rt. 7 eastbound will be closed overnight this week to allow for the rehabilitation of the Route 7 Bridge over Conrail railroad tracks in Kearny.
Beginning last night and continuing until Friday morning, June 10, NJDOT’s contractor Konkus Corporation, will close traffic on Rt. 7 eastbound in order to perform demolition work at 8 p.m. until 5 a.m. the next morning.
The following eastbound detour will be in place from 8 p.m. to 5 a.m., Wednesday and Thursday nights:
Traffic from Kearny to Jersey City:
• Motorists traveling eastbound from Kearny to Jersey City will be directed to Schuyler Ave. to Harrison Ave./CR 508/Newark-Jersey City Turnpike to R. 7.
NJDOT has designed work on the $13.7 million bridge rehabilitation project to be performed in stages. The project is expected to be completed by the end of summer 2017.
Portable variable message signs are being utilized to provide advance notification to the public of all traffic pattern changes associated with the work.
