Giulio Louis DiSerafino
Giulio Louis DiSerafino, 88, of Bonita Springs, Florida, died Thursday, August 30, 2018.
He was born in Devon, Pennsylvania, on April 25, 1930, the son of Luigi and Lucia (née DeFelice) DiSerafino.
Giulio was a graduate of Pennsylvania Military College, served as a Captain in the U.S. Army during the Korean War and was Assistant Commandant of PMC, now known as Widener University in Chester, Pennsylvania.
He was Acting Principal at Wissahickon High School in Amble, Pennsylvania, and retired as Principal of Kearny High School. He was elected to the prestigious Board of Trustees of Middle States Association of Colleges and Schools.
Giulio was devoted to his family and friends. Known as Captain “D” by his boys, dad held very dear to his heart the memories of Pennsylvania Military College and all of the young men who walked the halls at PMC. He was forever grateful for their devotion and brotherhood.
Our father was a great man who taught by example. Our father was a great mentor, who helped many, a confidant, best friend and our hero. He will be forever missed — we love you forever. Our father was a dedicated usher at St. Leo Catholic Church in Bonita Springs, Florida. He was dedicated to his faith.
Mr. DiSerafino is survived by his loving daughters, Renée Michelle DiSerafino and Gigi Danielle (Lincoln) Brant; and his grandsons, Sgt. Sawyer Brant (U.S. Army) and Taylor Brant.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his loving wife, Marie (née Migliozzi); brothers, Robert and Raymond; and sister, Lydia.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Saturday, Sept. 15, at 10 a.m. at St. Leo the Great Catholic Church, 28300 Beaumont Road, Bonita Springs, Florida. Military Honors rendered by an active-duty U.S. Army detail will follow.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests that memorial contributions be made in his name, Captain “D” — Class of 1952, to the Pennsylvania Military College Museum at Widener University in Chester, Pennsylvania, or to St. John’s Soup Kitchen, Newark.

Michael J. ‘Raff’ Rafferty
Michael J. “Raff” Rafferty of Kearny died at home on Sept. 5, 2018.
He was 60.
Visiting was at the Armitage & Wiggins Funeral Home, Kearny. Mass was celebrated at St. Cecilia Church, Kearny. Creamation was private.
Raff was a truck driver for Safeway Trucking and was a member of Teamsters Union Local No. 560. He enjoyed volunteer work for The Food Bank.
The beloved husband of Noreen (Lockard), he was the devoted father of Michael, Brendan, Barry and Colin Rafferty. Brother of Sandra and Tom Rafferty and Diana Clayton-Peters, he is also survived by his brothers-in-law Pat and Mark Lockard.

Rosemary Anita Stutz
Rosemary Anita Stutz, 66, of Wellsboro, Pennsylvania, died peacefully Thursday, Aug. 30, 2018, after a courageous battle with pancreatic cancer with family by her side.
She married Walter S. Stutz in 1981 and they shared over 36 years of marriage together. She was born on March 4, 1952, in Jersey City, the daughter of the-late James D. Sr. and Catherine (Haubert) Hebson.
Rosemary was a devout Catholic with her most recent parish being St. Peter’s Catholic Church in Wellsboro, Pennsylvania. Simply living in the beautiful community of Wellsboro brought her great joy, along with frequent trips to her family lake house in the Adirondacks. What is known as “Nana’s Lake House,” provided a picturesque summer getaway for Rosemary and her family dating back to her youth.
She loved nature and being outdoors, even if it was merely working in the garden or hosting family gatherings. Most importantly, she truly valued the love she had for her husband and daughters, Walter, Liz and Caroline. Rosemary was incredibly independent and never gave in to her fight with pancreatic cancer, exceeding expectations for a year and a half.
Left to cherish her memory are her husband, Walter of Wellsboro; daughters, Elizabeth (George) Rutter and Caroline Stutz, both of Philadelphia; brothers, James D. Hebson Jr. of Kearny, Richard W. (Susan) Hebson of Wellsboro and Charles S. (Margaret) Hebson of Falmouth, Maine; sister, Joanne (Arthur) Higgins of York, Maine; several nieces, nephews and cousins and many dear friends.
In addition to her parents, Rosemary was preceded in death by her sister Catherine McVicker.

A viewing took place at the Tussey-Mosher Funeral Home, Wellsboro. A Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated at St. Peter’s Catholic Church, 38 Central Ave., Wellsboro, with Rev. David Bechtel officiating.
Burial was in St. Peter’s Cemetery, Wellsboro, Pennsylvania.

Irene B. Cmielewski
Irene B. Cmielewski, 95, of Harrison, died Tuesday, Sept. 4, 2018.
Funeral services were under the direction of the Mulligan Funeral Home, Harrison. A funeral Mass was celebrated at Our Lady of Czestochowa Church, Harrison. Her interment took place in Holy Cross Cemetery, North Arlington.

Irene was born in Erie, Pennsylvania, and lived most of her life in Harrison.
She was predeceased by her husband Walter J. Cmielewski Sr. She is survived by her three sons Walter Jr. and his wife Carol, Joseph D. and his wife Sandy and Michael D. and his wife Ellen.
She is also survived by nine grandchildren, Walter III, Jennifer, Emily, Joseph, Rebecca, Stephen, Mikey, Maureen and Joanie and 12 great-grandchildren, Evelyn, Noah, Morgan, Camryn, Zooey, Summer, Owen, Maia, Charlie, Christopher, William and McKenna.

Lucena Klassmann
Lucena Klassmann died Sept. 7, 2018.
She was 69.
Born in Brazil, she lived in Kearny for the past 29 years.
Visiting will be Saturday, Sept. 15, at the Armitage & Wiggins Funeral Home, 596 Belgrove Drive, Kearny, from 2 until 5 p.m. Private cremation will follow.
Lucena was one of 15 siblings in Brazil. She is survived by her loving daughter Anna Carolina Klassmann De Souza and her beloved husband Marc Cutillo. She was an active member of St. Stephen’s and Grace Community Church in Newark. She was dedicated to helping the less fortunate and the hard working men and women of our community.
She volunteered at homeless shelters and distributed food every Sunday for the Day Laborers who waited by Walmart for a day’s work. She actively walked to raise money and awareness for breast cancer research and survivors — and was a proud big sister for Big Brothers & Big Sisters.

Adeline Ward
Adeline Ward (nee Verdillo) of Kearny died Sept. 5, 2018.
She was 83.
Visitation will take place at the Armitage & Wiggins Funeral Home, 596 Belgrove Drive, Kearny, on Wednesday, Sept. 12, from 9 to 11 a.m. A funeral Mass will be celebrated at St. Stephen’s Church, Kearny, on Wednesday at 11:30 a.m. Entombment will be in Holy Cross Cemetery, North Arlington.
Born in Jersey City, Adeline lived in Kearny for the past 60 years. She worked at Prudential Insurance Company before becoming a homemaker many years ago. She enjoyed traveling to the Poconos and playing the slots at Mt. Airy Casino, loved cruises and watching “Wheel of Fortune” and “The Price is Right.”
Adeline was the beloved wife of the-late Edward Ward; loving mother of Cathleen Wilmes and her husband David, Mark Ward and his partner Stacy, Michael Ward and his wife Lora and James Ward and his wife Janet; and dear grandmother of Colin, Dylan, Evan and Ryan Ward, Madison and Julian Wilmes and Kristy Montero.
