The Nutley Board of Commissioners have reported the death of a fourth township resident who had tested positive for COVID-19.
“Our thoughts and prayers are with the victim’s family,” the commissioners said jointly.
In addition, as of March 30, there are a total of 82 known cases of COVID-19 in Nutley, including 10 new cases identified today alone. Statewide, there are a total of 16,636 known cases and 198 deaths.
Nutley’s four fatalities are the third most in all of Essex County. Only Newark (8) and Montclair (10) have fared worse.
In Essex County, there are 1,564 known cases and 34 deaths.
The known cases in Nutley include men and women between the ages of 20 and 80. Due to federal privacy regulations, the township cannot share detailed information on cases and residents should not contact the Nutley Health Department to request patient details.
The Nutley Health Department says it’s working diligently to track any interactions the individuals who tested positive have had with residents, and they will ensure that anyone at risk of exposure is provided with all of the information necessary, including being tested themselves if appropriate.
