Steven A. Tanelli, D-North Arlington, and Tracy Silna Zur, D-Franklin Lakes, were sworn in for their fourth terms on the Board of Commissioners at the governing body’s annual reorganization. Also sworn in were Bergen County Surrogate Michael Dressler, Sheriff Anthony Cureton and Clerk John Hogan.
The event took place last week on the Bergen County Courthouse steps and drew leaders from across the state, including Gov. Philip D. Murphy and U.S. Rep. Josh Gottheimer.
The board also chose its 2022 leadership as Silna Zur, Thomas J. Sullivan, D-Montvale and Joan Voss, D-Fort Lee, will serve as chairwoman, vice-chairman and chair pro tempore respectively.
“I’m honored to have been re-elected to my fourth term to serve the people of Bergen County,” Tanelli, the former North Arlington councilman, said. “I look forward to continuing the work of expanding outdoor recreation and working to help the complete return from the pandemic while advocating for the nearly one million residents.”
Sullivan, meanwhile, was elated to have been selected to a leadership post on the board.
“I am truly honored to have been selected as vice chairman for 2022,” Sullivan said. “I have the utmost confidence in this board to tackle all of the challenges this year will bring, in the same way we successfully tackled the challenges of the past two years. Bergen County residents can rest assured we will continue to be Bergen County Strong.”
