Clara Maass appoints new COO

Clara Maass Medical Center, Belleville, has a new chief operating officer.

Jordan A. Solop was appointed to the RWJBarnabas facility’s C-suite effective immediately. In this role, Solop will be responsible for operational leadership, direction and vision to specific areas of Clara Maass with system-wide strategic initiatives.

“Clara Maass Medical Center is committed to providing exceptional patient care close to home,” Mary Ellen Clyne, president and chief executive officer of Clara Maass Medical Center, said. “I look forward to Jordan’s knowledge and leadership in advancing the operational excellence for patients to receive care in our community.”

A seasoned healthcare executive, Solop has a track record of success, most recently serving as Vice President, Hospital Operations, Clinical Services at NYU Langone Hospital, Brooklyn. Prior to his role at NYU Langone, Solop held several healthcare-leadership positions, including Director of Business Development at CarePoint Health and Administrator for Medical Operations at the Cleveland Clinic in Florida.

Solop has an MBA in international business from the University of Miami and a bachelor’s degree from Pennsylvania State University. He is a fellow in the American College of Healthcare Executives and is a LEAN Six Sigma Green Belt.

Kevin A. Canessa Jr. is the editor of and broadcaster at The Observer, an organization he has served since 2006. He is responsible for the editorial content of the newspaper and website, the production of the e-Newspaper, writing several stories per week (including the weekly editorial), conducting live broadcasts on social media channels such as YouTube, Facebook, and X, including a weekly recap of the news — and much more behind the scenes.
